A&M Hymn #260: Hark, my soul! it is the Lord

Complete lyrics, stanzas, and pipe organ accompaniment • Hymns Ancient & Modern

1
Hark, my soul! it is the Lord;
'Lis thy Saviour, hear His Word :
Je.-i.-- speaks, and speaks to thee.
"Say, poor sinner, lov'st thou Me?
2
" I deliver 'd thee when bound,
And, when bleeding, heald thy
wound ;
Sought thee wandering, set thee right,
3
Turn'd thy darkness into light.
"Can a woman's tender care
Cease towards the child she bareV
Yes, she may forgetful be,
4
Yet will I remember thee.
"Mine is an unchanging love,
Higher than the heights above,
Deeper than the depths beneath,
5
Free and faithful, strong as death.
" Thou shalt see My glory soon,
When the work of grace is done
Partner of My Throne shalt be :
6
Say, poor sinner, (cr) lov'st tho-:
Lord, it is my chief complaint
That my love is weak and faint;
Yet I love Thee, {dim) and adore
7
O for grace to love Thee more.
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for thei
261 shall see God."
Bless'd are the pure in heart,
8
For they shall see our God :
The secret of the Lord is theirs,
Their soul is Christ 's abode.
P The Lord, Who left the heavens
9
Our life and peace to bring.
To dwell in lowliness with men,
Their Pattern and their King ;
Still to the lowly soul
10
He doth Himself impart,
And for His dwelling and His
Chooseth the pure in heart.
Lord, we Thy Presence seek ;
11
May ours this blessing be :
Give us a pure and lowly heart,
A temple meet for Thee. Amen,
"Now abideth faith, hope, charity, these
12
262 charity."
Great Mover of all hearts, Whose
Doth all the secret springs command
Of human thought and will, [oles!
13
Thou, since the world was made, dost
Thy Saints with fruits of holiness,
Their order to fulfil.
Faith, hope, and love here weave on
14
But love alone shall then remain
When tins short day is gone :
O Love, 0 Truth, 0 endless Light,
When shall we see Thy Sal-bath bright
15
With all our labours done?
We sow mid perils here and tears ;
There the glad hand the harvest
bears,
16
Which herein grief hath sown :
Great Three in One, the increase
give ;
Thv gifts of grace, by which we live,
17
With heavenly glory crown. Ames*.
