A&M Hymn #492: Lo! now the time accepted peals

Complete lyrics, stanzas, and pipe organ accompaniment • Hymns Ancient & Modern

1
Lo ! now the time accepted peals
Its tidings of release ;
A time that with salvation heals,
And to repentant tears reveals
2
2> The mercy-seat of peace.
Then let us wisely now restrain
Cur food, our drink, our sleep;
From idle word and jest refrain,
3
And steadfastly begin again J.
A stricter watch to keep.
Now heaven-taught love will haste
And seek the cheerless bed.
4
Where cold and wan the sufferer lies.
And Christ Himself to heediui eyes
Is hungering for bread.
" Tis now that zealous charity
5
Her goods more largely spends,
Lays up her treasure in the sky
Then consecrate us, Lord, anew.
And fire our hearts with love ;
6
That all we think, and all we do,
Within, without, re pure and true,
Rekindled from ;ibove.
Now fuller praise and glory be
7
And make us, Blessed Trinity.
More faithful soldiers, worthier Thee,
Through this our chastening fast.
7
Amen.
