A&M Hymn #569: Do no sinful action

Complete lyrics, stanzas, and pipe organ accompaniment • Hymns Ancient & Modern

1
569 " Cease to do evil, learn to do well.""
Do no sinful action,
Speak no angry word ;
Ye belong to Jesus,
2
Children of the Lord.
Christ is kind and gentle,
Christ is pure and true ;
And His little children
3
Must be holy too.
There's a wicked spirit
Watching round you still,
And he tries to tempt you
4
To all harm and ill.
But ye must not hear him,
Though 'tis hard for you
To resist the evil,
5
And the good to do.
For ye promised truly,
In your infant days,
To renounce him wholly,
6
And forsake his ways.
FOR THE YOUNG.
Ye are new-bora Christians,
Ye must learn to fight
7
With the bad within you,
And to do the right.
Christ is your own Master,
He is good and true,
And His little children
Muse be holy too.
7
Amen.
